Service Medal 1939-45
Ribbon: Khaki with narrow red edge stripes, a dark blue edge to the wearer's right and a light blue edge to his left.
Instituted: 1949.
Awarded: To members of the Australian Armed Forces, Merchant Navy and civilians serving in operational areas.
Personnel were also eligible for the award of the British Campaign Stars, Defence Medal and War Medal 1939-45; depending on their service.
Ribbon: Pale green with white edged red central stripe.
Instituted: 25 November 1994.
Awarded: To civilians who served in arduous circumstances in organisations subject to military discipline during WW2.
Ribbon: A central red stripe, flanked by yellow, light blue, dark green and finally purple edge stripes.
Instituted: 11 December 1997.
Awarded: For warlike service between 3 September 1945 and 14 February 1975.
